Landfill Diversion

Two thirds of Municipal Solid Waste is biodegradable material and many commercial waste streams can also contain high levels of BioMass. This carbon-rich biogenic material including food wastes, paper and cardboard and garden/yard waste decomposes when landfilled causing harmful leachate and greenhouse gases such as methane, which has a 23 times higher global warming potential than CO2.

The patented Bedminster BioEnergy Technology includes the highly efficient Bedminster digester separation process which enables virtually all biodegradable waste to be captured as a high quality homogeneous BioMass. This is then converted into BioEnergy (or high quality compost), which leads to the diversion from landfill of more than 95% of the biodegradable material input, which in turn greatly reduces the production of greenhouse gases.

Furthermore, the uniquely efficient separation allows metals and inert materials to be separated for recycling, leaving a synthetic fraction, which can either be recycled or turned into fuel, leaving only a small residue from the input material.
